IPL 7 auction: Mallya alleges record buy a goof up, complains to Governing Council

Royal Challengers Bangalore owner Vijay Mallya has filed an official complaint with the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League saying that the original price at which he bought star batsman Yuvraj Singh is Rs 10 crore and not Rs 14 crore.

Mallya added that the Rs 4 crore that RCB paid for Yuvraj was the result of a goof-up during the auction process and he is sure that the GC will act upon his complaint.

RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders were involved in a fierce battle forYuvraj when at one juncture the bidding came to Rs 10 crore. KKR official Jeet Bannerjee apparently raised the platter halfheartedly because of which the bidding continued.
Later, speaking to the media, Mallya said the bidding continued at the discretion of the auctioneer and he couldn't do anything about it.

But he was happy he had bought Yuvraj.

However, by evening Mallya let the GC know that the original price for Yuvraj, in his opinion, was Rs 10 crore and the issue of Rs 4 crore extra paid for the batsman should be looked into.

Mallya will definitely benefit if Rs 4 crore is returned to his kitty considering that he still has a huge number of players to buy to fulfil the mandatory requirement of a minimum squad of 16 players. As of now, he has only Rs 1.8 crore left.

Karthik surprised

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik was left pleasantly surprised after being picked by Delhi Daredvils. "I don't play cricket only to make money. I have been picked by Delhi and as a professional and it is my responsibility to perform to the best of my abilities, he said.
